The History of the Internet

History of the InternetThere isn't one person who invented the Internet. Lots of different people helped to invent different parts which help it to work in the way that it does today.

Some ideas about getting computers to 'talk' were first thought of in the 1960s, but it wasn't until the 1990s that people and businesses started to use the Internet as a quick way of communicating.

The World Wide Web was invented by Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau in 1990 to make a common space where people could share information.

In 2006, there were more than 92 million websites online. How many do you think there are today?
